THE REALITY OF KINNIYA

The following figures begin to exemplify the brutal reality
in Kinniya after the Boxing Day tsunami...

Deaths: 451
Missing: 150
New widows: 150
New orphans: 100

If we can build 25 homes a year, we hope to complete our goal of 100 homes by 2010. These homes will then be given to deserving families to live in. With the ability to give charitable tax receipts (expected by early 2006) for donations by Canadians to the project, we could achieve our goal of 100 homes sooner.

A standard home that can house a family of five (50.5 sq.m / 533.3 sq. ft) in Kinniya has been calculated to cost CAN $3500. Building sites are being researched now and will be negotiated with local government agencies.
