Clothing Drive
When: February 1st to April 30th, 2008
Clothing can be arranged for drop-off with Daughty
by calling 604-465-6876.  

We accept gently used clothing, boots, draperies and bedding
(no running shoes).  We are paid by weight.  All proceeds to
go towards supplies and rebuilding in Kinniya. Dig out those closets!

Our Spring Tea and Fashion Show is called ...
"Springing into Summer"
When:   April 26th, 2008 from 12 (noon) to 4pm
Where: Maple Ridge Senior Hall on 224th St.

It was a grand success last year and a fun afternoon!

2008 Children's Art Calendar - only $12

Orphans from Kinniya have sent us their pictures depicting their memories of that horrible day in their lives. A reminder to us all to support those much less fortunate than ourselves, we created a monthly art calendar for 2008.

At the end of our fundraising activities in 2007, we are over $50,000 to build 10 homes in 2008. Some of the volunteers for our society will be going to Kinniya in 2008 to start the first phase of the project. Our volunteers will oversee the purchasing of materials and supervise the construction of the homes. At this time, we have the verification of land deeds of those fortunate ones we will be able to help. This has all been verified through the land titles office by Daughty's brother. He has interviewed the families firsthand. In the meanwhile, Daughty's picture is in a prominent place in the orphanage as a reminder of goods provided and things promised. Please continue to monitor our progress and contribute during this exciting time.

CANADIAN RESPONSE

The response from the local Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge community has been fantastic! We have had people willing to donate their time, skills and cover expenses. Organizations such as the Lions and Rotary clubs have offered their support. We have had amazing support from a Toronto-based organization, Direct Access Marketing, who have donated time, fundraising advice, and our professional logo. Locally we have had continued sponsorship through The Times, SureCopy Printing, Peak Engineering, Wildwood Daycare, Noura Construction, and Summit Marketing.

We hope that this great support continues in Canada and abroad, so we can help this village in need and report great things here in the future!
